Over 11,000 in Gujarat, 1.91 lakh in India vaccinated

First dose given to medical, paramedical staff; no side effects reported in Gujarat

Ahmedabad: After prime minister kicked off the Corona vaccine drive pan India on Saturday morning, as many as 1.91 lakh were vaccinated in India. In Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani and deputy chief minister Nitin Patel initiated the drive in civil hospital, Ahmedabad. 11800 vaccines were given at 161 vaccine centres in state to the medical and paramedical staff, the state government told media.

Public health centres, primary health centres and several hospitals in different parts of the state were given the vaccines. Several doctors and paramedical staff of private hospitals were also vaccinated on Saturday. Several directors of hospital were also pioneered the drive before being given to the

Speaking to media, Patel said, the drive continued till 6 in the evening and till then 11800 medical and paramedical staff at 161 vaccine centres in 8 municipalities and 33 district were vaccinated in Gujarat state. So far no reports of the side effects of the vaccine have been reported.

In the first phase of the drive 4.4. lakh Corona warriors will get the vaccine, he further added.

Sanitation worker Manish Kumar was the first person in India to be vaccinated against COVID-19 on Saturday.  Kumar received his shot at Delhi’s premier All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), just one of the over 3,000 vaccination centres established around the country. On the first day of the immunisation campaign, the government said it aimed to vaccinate over 3 lakh people. By the end of the day 1.91 lakh had been inoculated, it said.
