Independent MP from Dadra and Nagar Haveli found dead in Mumbai hotel

Mumbai: An independent MP from Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Mohan Delkar, was found dead at a hotel in Mumbai today, said police sources adding that apparently it seems suicide. The 58 year old independent member of parliament is survived by a wife and two offspring.

The place from where Mohan Delkar’s body has been found is a sea facing hotel on Marine drive.  In a statement issued, the Mumbai police has said, a suicide note has been found and investigation is being done. The exact cause of death will be known only after the post-mortem.

Delkar, was a seven-term MP and was with Congress earlier. In fact, he was Congress president of Dadra and Nagar Haveli when he quit the party in 2019 to contest the national election as an independent candidate.

According to the sources in Dadar and Nagar Haveli, Delkar was a member of the Standing Committee on Personnel, Public Grievances, Law and Justice and a member of the Consultative Committee, Ministry of Home Affairs of the Lower House. He is survived by wife, a son and a daughter.
