Gujarat: New chief minister Bhupendra Patel takes charge of office; is known for his wit and humour

After Vijay Rupani’s forced resignation from chief ministership, the Bharatiya Janta Party on Sunday evening selected Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Ghatlodia, Bhupendra Patel for the position and on Monday afternoon he took oath of the office.

Patel, as he entered the office worshiped God.

Bhupendra Patel is a well-known figure amongst people. Specially for his cool and calm nature. No matter how tough the question may be, he never loses his temper which was evident during his tenure as the standing committee chairman of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation.

Patel who belongs to Patidar community is also close to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former chief minister of Gujarat, Anandiben Patel who has seen his work  as standing committee chairman. Patel is educated and has grip over the function of the institution. According to insiders, it would be a tough job for Patel to handle the government which Rupani has left in between as directed.

Patel is also known for his sharp wits and humour amongst party man. He is after convincing the Prime Minister, Central home minister Amit Shah and other top party brass likely to include several of the faces with whom he has worked during his tenure in Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation.
