In a shocking and sudden political happening, Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani on Saturday afternoon resigned from his post. This was revealed after he met the governor Acharya Devvrat at the latter’s official resident.
According to secretariat sources, this occurred after the central home minister Amit Shah came to Gujarat few days back and left for New Delhi immediately. Rupani succeeded Anandiben Patel and was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Gujarat on 7 August 2016. In the 2017 Gujarat Legislative Assembly election, he retained Rajkot West constituency defeating the Indian National Congress candidate Indranil Rajyaguru.
Speculations are, deputy chief minister Nitin Patel, Gujarat BJP chief, C R Patil, former home minister Gordhan Zadaphia, central minster Mansukh Mandavia, GAnpat Vasava and Bhikhubahi Dalsania are said to be in the race for the top political post of Gujarat state.
